The Delhi Development Authority's (DDA) eagerly awaited 2014 housing scheme gets underway today.

More than 25,000 flats, mostly single-bedroom units, are up for grabs under the scheme. The flats are located in Rohini, Dwarka and Narela. The registration process for the flats will continue till October 9 and the lucky draw will be held within 20 days after the exercise gets over. There will be no provision for any reservation for the residents of Delhi in allotment of flats.

Out of the total of 25,034 flats, 22,627 are two-room units with one bedroom and a drawing room. Their prices range between Rs 14 and 22 lakhs. The scheme also has 700 flats for the economically weaker sections.

The DDA will also allot 811 old flats in different categories after completely renovating them. The old flats would be priced at a depreciation rate of 1.25% per annum. The DDA has also set aside a sum of Rs 362 crore for the maintenance of these flats after allotment.

In order to be eligible to apply for the flats, one needs to be at least 18 years of age. The applicant also needs to provide a photocopy of the PAN card along with the application. The applicant shouldn't have any property registered in his or her name in Delhi.
