50 companies engineering students dream of working for
Universum, a global research and advisory firm, recently surveyed 11,544 of these undergraduates and asked them to choose the companies and organizations they'd consider working for from a list of 230 options.
Next they asked respondents to choose the five employers they most want to work for.
Universum then put together a ranking of the most desirable employers, based on the percentage of students who chose a company as one of their top five "ideal" employers. (They also did this for liberal arts students, business students, and natural science students.)
NASA, which according to its site is a "leading force in scientific research and in stimulating public interest in aerospace exploration, as well as science and technology in general," unsurprisingly landed at the top of the list, as a whopping 19.65% of engineering undergrads named it their dream employer.
Google, The Boeing Company, Tesla, and SpaceX rounded out the top five.

"Entrepreneurism and creativity are increasing in importance for engineering students today," says Melissa Murray Bailey, president of Universum Americas. "More and more, we're seeing engineering students looking for agile environments where they can get creative and solve interesting problems. This can be a challenge for larger, more established organizations that don't operate like start-ups - but the more they can highlight the ways that their employees can make an impact, the better they'll perform with this group."
