General Motors just got some big recognition for its Chevy Bolt.

On Monday evening, Motor Trend named the Bolt its Car of the Year.

The Bolt, of course, is GM's first long range, affordable electric car.

It has a range of 238 miles per charge and will cost about $30,000, after a $7,500 federal tax credit, and will have a top speed of 91 mph.

GM began production of its vehicle last month, beating Tesla to the punch for creating the first mass market, electric vehicle. Tesla plans to launch its first affordable, long-range vehicle, dubbed the Model 3, at the end of 2017.

While that's impressive on its own, the vehicle has a number of other impressive features that make it appealing.

We had a chance to test-drive the Bolt EV at the Consumer Electronic Show in January with Stuart Norris, one of the Bolt's designers. Norris walked us through some of the car's best tech and design features.
