As dawn broke on the day the UK realised it was headed for a Brexit, 70 people working in the UK's tech sector boarded a Eurostar train from London to Paris where they planned to embark on a charity bike ride that would see them cycle 306-kilometres back to London over the course of the weekend.

The founders, investors, and developers pushed themselves to their limits as they cycled from the Eiffel Tower to Greenwich. In the process, they raised over £55,000 for children's education charity Room to Read.

Some of the founders Business Insider spoke to in the departure lounge at St Pancras were on the brink of tears as they struggled to deal with the shock result of the EU referendum. As the weekend went on, there were countless conversations about the implications of a Brexit on the wider UK technology industry.

Will founders of UK technology startups pack their bags for cities like Paris and Berlin where they're guaranteed access to the 500 million people in Europe's so-called "Digital Single Market" and where they know they'll be able to hire people from across the continent? Will corporates like Google and Amazon stay loyal to London or will they relocate their offices in the same way that several companies in the financial sector plan to?
