Obama's Cadillac One, which is also known as 'The Beast', is meant to protect the most powerful person on the earth – the US President – from terror attacks and keep him in touch with his administration even while travelling. The vehicle, worth $1.5 million, can withstand both bullets and bombs. The dimension of the vehicle is 18ft in length and 5ft 10 inches in height. It weighs eight tonnes and sports a 6.5-litre diesel engine with capacity to hit a speed of 100 kmph.
Let’s have a look at some of its key features:
Boot: It contains oxygen tanks and fire fighting equipment.
Fuel tank: It is sealed with a special kind of foam to prevent it from exploding.
Rear seat/compartment: The President's seat has a state-of-the-art satellite phone with a direct line to the vice-president and the Pentagon. The rear compartment has seating capacity of four persons.
Defence equipment: It has night-vision camera, pump-action shotgun and teargas cannons. Moreover, it also has a blood bank of the first family's blood types.
Doors: Its doors, which weigh as much as Boeing 757, have armour-plating and thickness of eight inches.
Driver's compartment: ‘The Beast’s dash board has a communication centre and GPS tracking system. Even armour piercing bullets and .44 Magnum cannot pierce the driver's window. The driver is specially trained by the Secret Service to perform a 180-degree 'J-turn' in case of an attack.
Body work and chassis: The car also consists of steel plate to protect against bombs or landmines.
