ISTANBUL (Reuters) - A far-left Turkish group took an Istanbul prosecutor hostage in his office on Tuesday and threatened on its website to kill him, prompting special forces officers to enter the courthouse as people inside the building were evacuated.

The Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C) published a picture of the prosecutor with a gun to his head, which the Turkish media has reported is real.

The prosecutor is leading an investigation into the death last year of 14-year-old Berkin Elvan, who was hit by a gas canister in the head during Gezi Park anti-government protests in 2013, IB Times has reported.

The DHKP-C is demanding that the policeman currently on trial for Elvan's death record a live confession. If their demands are not met by 3:36 pm local time, they say they will kill the prosecutor.

Turkish special forces have stormed the building
