Neighboring country China, which has already planned to expand its road and rail network with Rasuwagadhi area in Nepal through Tibet, is now looking to further stretch its railway link to Bihar so that it can improve its connectivity with India and South Asia.China's railroad with Nepal will get completed by 2020, said an article in the state-run Global Times. This would also allow China to connect to India, given that the distance from Rasuwagadhi to Bihar-bordering Birgunj is only 240 km.
When connected, Bihar would not need to trade with China through Kolkata, thus saving time, cost and distance.
"The railroad connection to China not only is important for Nepal and Nepalese people's future development, but also has the capacity to build connectivity with the whole of South Asia. The government of Nepal has the chance to make history," the article said.
