His exit from the company is first top-level departure from Infosys. BPO head Gautam Thakkar had resigned after Infosys found that the unit had overbilled Apple, one of Infosys's largest customers.
Jalona's resignation also comes at a time when Infosys CEO Vishal Sikka is trying to position the company as a next-generational services firm.
Jalona, as head of manufacturing, was overseeing over $2 billion of annual business.
Meanwhile, L&T Infotech was looking for a CEO as chief executives Vivek Chopra and Mukesh Aghi left the company in October last year.
Presently, Jalona is on notice period at Infosys.
