Apart from Alexa, which is similar to Google assistant on Home, Amazon will also launch its Echo speakers in the country.

As per reports, a multilingual interface is being developed at Amazon's Chennai facility.

Alexa on Echo is a unique combo and will intrigue tech enthusiasts and other, who will be able to sit in their homes or offices and get their tasks done.

Also, Alexa will be linked to Amazon's online marketplace for buying stuff online.

"We expect Amazon to launch (Alexa and Echo) in the Indian market with very attractive pricing offers in the beginning, a similar strategy used with Amazon Prime Video and something that worked well. These offerings are likely to be linked with existing users of Amazon's services in India, making it more appealing for them," an analyst told ET.

Amazon’s Alexa can draft e-mails, order food, book cabs, help with studies, etc.

Echo should allow users to book flight and movie tickets or hail a cab to work.

The Echo-branded speakers, launched in the US in 2015, account for 70.6% of the voice-enabled speaker market in that country, according to a report by eMarketer in May.
