Andhra Pradesh exit poll results 2019 of Lok Sabha Elections

Jagan Reddy, the head of YSR Congress, has a reason to smile today as at least three exit polls predict that he will overtake the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). While India Today predicts a clear win for YSR-C, a few others believe they will remain head to head. Some even foretell a fractured verdict in the state, as Reddy banks on his late father Y S Rajasekhar Reddy’s legacy to win votes this election.

TDP head Chandrababu Naidu broke away from BJP over special status to his state. BJP, which fielded its own candidates this time, might get only one or two seats in this state, polls predict.

A Telugu speaking state in South India, the total number of registered voters in the state of Andhra Pradesh are 3,66,61,315. This figure comprises of 1,81,80,968 males and 1,84,76,601 females. The number of third gender voters in the state are 3,746.

In 2014 Lok Sabha elections, TDP won 15 seats, YSRCP was elected from 8 constituencies and BJP bagged 2 seats. In the 2009 elections for the Lok Sabha, the Congress party won 21 seats leaving only 4 seats for the TDP. No other parties could bag any seats in these elections. The performance of the Congress party in the state was slightly lower in 2004 than in 2009. The number of seats claimed from the state by the Congress in 2004 was 16 with TRS winning from 5 seats and TDP securing 2 seats.

Andhra Pradesh has 25 Lok Sabha seats to give to the Parliament of India. Andhra Pradesh has 176 assembly constituencies. Among these 25 Lok Sabha seats, 4 are reserved for Scheduled castes and 1 is earmarked for the scheduled tribes. All the 25 constituencies went for polling during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on April 11, 2019 during the first phase of elections in the country. The state also sends 11 Rajya Sabha members.
