When people typed the letter "i," it would be automatically changed through Apple's autocorrect to what appears to most people to be a question mark box. It looks like this: #⍰.

This problem was incredibly widespread, with 8,347 tweets linking to the official Apple Support fix as of 11 a.m. on Thursday, according to data from Keyhole.
