Former finance secretary Arvind Mayaram has been transferred once again; this time as the secretary of minority affairs. This comes just a fortnight after he was transferred to the Tourism Ministry.

A posting at Minority Affairs Ministry is regarded as even more low-profile as compared to the Tourism Ministry. In its fresh order, the government cancelled its October 15 directive of transferring Mayaram to the Tourism Ministry.

Mayaram, the senior most among the four secretaries in the ministry, was brought into Finance Ministry by the previous UPA government. He was also Secretary, Economic Affairs.
