This time around, Schwarzenegger will play an aging T-800.
In the film, he'll take on quite a bit of damage as he goes to battle with several characters including a younger version of himself throughout the film.
While you may be quick to think all of the effects are done on the computer, most of them are actually no more than makeup with the aid of some visual effects.
65 craftsmen at Legacy Effects studio worked on thousands of silicon and prosthetic makeup pieces to be used on Schwarzenegger and his doubles while filming "Genisys."
A visual breakdown of Schwarzenegger's makeup process can be seen in the new making-of book "Terminator Genisys: Resetting the Future."
Publisher Insight Editions provided a few images of Schwarzenegger getting into his prosthetics exclusively with Business Insider.
Check them out below.

Here's how two of the prosthetics look. Right now, they look huge on Schwarzenegger's face, but you'll barely be able to see them when they're fully attached.
