BSNL’s Madhya Pradesh Circle Chief General Manager, N K Yadav said they expect an increase of 25% of broadband users in the country, during 2014-15. Many of them will go with the Government owned BSNL, which will extend its lead in the current fiscal.

More and more users are picking up a laptop or PC for their homes in the tier 2 and tier 3 homes. Here BSNL is the most dominant broadband player who also provides landline access. The quality of broadband by BSNL was questionable 5-8 years ago.

However, the constant endeavour of becoming better has actually worked for this government agency and many cities enjoy seamless connections. Hopefully with the next rollouts the average broadband bandwidth/speeds will also become better. At the moment India (at 5.2 MBPS average speed) is way under the world’s average internet speed of 19 MBPS (recorded on netindex).
