CAT Results are out! Here's what you need to do next to get admission to your desired IIM CollegeFinally, the much awaited CAT Results are out, with 20 candidates securing 100 percentile! What's interesting this time is that all the students who scored 100 percentile marks are engineers.

As per reports, this year the number of applicants rose to 2, 32,434 compared to last year's 2,18,664, as per the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore. The exam was conducted in 138 cities across the country and the duration of the exam was of three hours. IIM Bangalore was the convener of CAT 2016.

The CAT entrance test, thought to be one of the toughest exam, is a gateway to admissions in Indian Institute of Managements and other Business schools in the country. So, for qualifying students eyeing admissions to the Top B-schools in India, here's everything about application that you may want to know:

Admission procedure:
These are the 20 IIMs which are operational right now - IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bangalore, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Nagpur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur and IIM Visakhapatnam. Amongst them, IIM Calcutta is the oldest one and IIM Jammu is the youngest one.

All the candidates who successfully cleared the selection process will make their way to these 20 different IIM institutes on the basis of Written Ability Test, Group Discussion followed by Personal Interviews round. However, not every IIM follows the same procedure, it also varies from institute to institute. IIMs may additionally use other factors like previous academic performance of the candidates, relevant work experience and other similar inputs in short listing and ranking of candidates at various stages of the admission process. It is best for candidates to refer to the admission policies of IIMs from their respective websites.

Eligibility verification:
If a candidate is shortlisted for interviews or selected for a program by any IIM, he/she must comply with the eligibility verification by presenting Marksheets, Degree Certificates and Certificates to prove the reservation/disability category, if there are any.

The candidates in the Final Year of Graduation have to show an original certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of the university/institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PWD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
