CNN president Jeff Zucker on Wednesday said the network had completed an investigation after it was revealed interim Democratic National Committee chair Donna Brazile seemingly obtained questions in advance of a primary debate and town hall.

"Yes, we have done a complete investigation," Zucker said, according to a source who watched the television town hall where the remarks were made.

Zucker added: "This behavior was completely unacceptable and we are clear, exactly where they came from."

The CNN chief described it all as a "very unfortunate situation."

"One bad apple, I don't think ruins the entire process," he said, according to the source. "Clearly this was unprofessional and this should not have happened and this has been dealt with."

Zucker then said the network would "not partner ever again" with TV One, the network it worked with to host the Ohio town hall in which Brazile appeared to have leaked a question to the Clinton campaign.

Brazile denied being the source of the leak in October, but an email obtained by Politico later showed she had access to the exact wording of a question from TV One moderator Roland Martin.

An email published on Monday revealed Brazile also apparently tipped off the Clinton campaign to a question ahead of a March CNN primary debate in Flint, Michigan.

"One of the questions directed to HRC tomorrow is from a woman with a rash," Brazile emailed John Podesta, Clinton's campaign chairman, and Jennifer Palmieri, Clinton's communications director.

Brazile added: "Her family has lead poison and she will ask what, if anything, will Hillary do as president to help the ppl of Flint."

A CNN employee told Business Insider at the time that it was possible Brazile obtained the question directly from the individual at a community service event held the day before the debate. However, the two individuals who asked Flint-related questions told The Daily Caller that they never spoke with her.

At the time of the debate and town hall, Brazile was a CNN contributor and vice chair of the Democratic National Committee. Zucker slammed her "disgusting" conduct with the Clinton campaign in an editorial meeting on Tuesday, The Huffington Post reported.

CNN announced Monday that it had parted ways with Brazile earlier this month.

A representative for the network did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
