The INSIDER Summary:

Carrie Fisher has died at age 60.
Her daughter released a statement, saying her mom "will be missed profoundly."
The pair had a close bond.
They often shared their relationship with their social media followers.

Beloved "Star Wars" actress Carrie Fisher died on Tuesday after suffering a heart attack. She's survived by her mother, Hollywood legend Debbie Reynolds, as well as her only daughter: 24-year-old actress Billie Lourd, who released a brief statement to People magazine through a family spokesperson.

"She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly," Lourd, whose father is talent agent Bryan Lourd, said in the statement. "Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers."

Lourd and Fisher shared a special bond as mother and daughter - and they weren't shy about it on social media, where they frequently traded sweet photos and notes.

Just a few weeks ago, Lourd posted this snapshot to her Instagram:

And here's another, posted to commemorate Fisher's 60th birthday in October:

Both women have praised each other's talents, too. "I'm always proud of my mother; she's killing it right now," Lourd told People magazine earlier this year. "She's incredible." On the TODAY show, she lovingly referred to her mother as a "beautiful wack job."

Fisher, who was active on Twitter, has also opened up about her daughter. "I aspire 2 deserve her," she tweeted in October.

And, like any mom, she took a moment to cheerlead for her daughter's professional endeavors. (Lourd is a regular on the Fox series "Scream Queens.")

The two were also fond of silly selfies.

And they even got the chance to work together on the set of "Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens." It's probably no coincidence that Lourd's small background character ended up with that iconic double-bun hairstyle so famously worn by Princess Leia in the original trilogy of films.

So far, Lourd has not released any further statement on her mother's death or the close relationship they shared. But Lourd's grandmother, Reynolds, did break her silence on Tuesday by publishing a short Facebook post.

"Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter," Reynolds wrote. "I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop."
