Cipla’s subsidiary Gets Order Worth Rs 1,100-crore From South Africa Cipla Medpro, a subsidiary of the Indian firm Cipla, has received an order for HIV drugs for about Rs 1,100 crore from South Africa. The contract would come into effect from 1 April, 2015, and will be applicable for three years, Cipla Ltd said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

"We are extremely proud to have won this tender which is not only testament to our high quality product portfolio, but is also in line with Cipla's ethos of advancing healthcare for all South Africans," Cipla Ltd Managing Director and Global CEO Subhanu Saxena said.

Cipla Medpro CEO Paul Miller said that Cipla is a renowned pioneer of fixed dose combinations. "We intend to continue this proud tradition and build on the foundation laid to continue our quest of providing affordable healthcare to all," he added.

Cipla had acquired Cipla Medpro in July 2013 for about Rs 2,707 crore. The company’s shares went up by 1.82% on the BSE.
