Popular Bollywood actress Apparently, the actress got upset over Meenakshi Lekhi’s claim supporting RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s remark about Mother Teresa. Bhagwat had said that the main objective behind Mother Teresa’s service to the poor was converting people to Christianity.
Shame on you #MeenakshiLekhi you contort personal faith/work to validate a statement that should be condemned. #MotherTeresa
read Dia’s tweet, to which Lekhi replied,
@deespeak Shame on you for not having the robustness to face the facts or accept the truth!
It didn’t stop at this, since the actress retorted and tweeted in sarcasm, “I hang my head in shame.”Advertisement
My father was Catholic, my mother is a Bengali, I was raised by my Muslim step father and I'm married to a Hindu. I am Indian.
Meanwhile, as she got some negative comments from Twitterati, she took that in a lighter note and tweeted, “The trolls are out and hard at work :)”
This morning, Dia retweeted an image of a TOI newspaper clipping in which Naveen Chawla, former Chief Election Commissioner of India and writer of Mother Teresa’s biography has mocked Lekhi. Chawla stated that Meenakshi Lekhi probably didn’t read his book from cover to cover and someone summarized it to her, hence the confusion about what his book says about Mother’s work. In a moving tale, he recounts how Mother Teresa had admitted to converting people, but only into better Hindu, better Muslim, better Catholic and better Sikh.
