Donald Trump still isn't backing down from his declarations that many Mexican immigrants to the US are "rapists."

In an interview with CNN set to air Wednesday night, the real-estate mogul got into a heated exchange with Don Lemon after the CNN host challenged Trump's assertions.

"Well, somebody's doing the raping, Don. I mean somebody's doing it," Trump said, according to CNN. "Who's doing the raping? Who's doing the raping?"

Trump sparked controversy last week during his presidential announcement speech when he said that Mexican immigrants coming to the US were drug runners and rapists.

"When Mexico sends its people, they're not sending their best; they're not sending you," Trump said in his announcement speech. "They're sending people that have lots of problems, and they're bringing those problems with us. They're bringing drugs. They're bringing crime. They're rapists. And some, I assume, are good people."

Over the past week, Trump has repeatedly defended himself from critics, citing a Fusion article that says that 80% of Central American female migrants are sexually assaulted during their journey to the United States.

The article's authors, however - Erin Siegal McIntyre and Deborah Bonello - wrote that "perpetrators can be coyotes, other migrants, bandits, or even government authorities."

Trump has used the Fusion article in an attempt to show Univision's hypocrisy. The network announced last week that it will not to carry his Miss America pageant because of Trump's statements. Univision owns Fusion in a joint venture with ABC News.

"You know who owns Fusion? Univision! Go to Fusion and pick up the stories on rape. It's unbelievable when you look at what's going on. So all I'm doing is telling the truth," Trump said.
