The Confederation of Indian Industry’s CEO Mission will meet in San Francisco. The association has several big names associated with it among with a few are Rajiv Modi, chairman and managing director of Cadila Pharmaceuticals; Rahul Munjal, managing director of Hero Future Energies; Deep Kapuria, chairman of Hi-tech Gears; Rajan Navani, managing director of Jetline Industries Ltd; and Tarun Sawhney, managing director of Triveni Engineering & Industries.

The major task of the delegation is to visit the manufacturing facility of Tesla — the maker of battery operated luxury cars. The company which was co-founded by billionaire Elon Musk is all set to start the production work by next year.

With PM Modi’s emphasis on clean energy, the government would be keen to introduce the technology in India.

The facility underwent an upgrade last year, adding significant manufacturing innovation using automation technology to increase production capacity and reduce production time. Modi is expected to visit the facility on September 26-27.

Over their two-day visit, the CII delegation will interact with members of Silicon Valley-based entrepreneurship trade body The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and also meet India's Ambassador to the US, Arun Singh. They will participate in a roundtable with the National Academy of Sciences on 'Manufacturing Innovation'.
