Just a day after Maruti recalled its premium crossover S-Cross, Ford India has announced that it will recall 48,000 EcoSport diesel vehicles.

The recall is to install a new bundle clip on the fuel and brake lines. The recalled Ecosports have been manufactured between April 2013 and June 2014.

"With this recall, the total number of EcoSport recalled since its launch touched 86,172. The previous recall was made in November 2015 where 16,500 units of the EcoSport were recalled to fix a potentially faulty part of the rear suspension unit that the company said could increase the risk of accidents.

"In its commitment to quality and complete transparency, Ford India is issuing two voluntary safety recalls to correct potential concerns with certain Ford EcoSport vehicles.

Ford India is also writing to customers of approximately 700 EcoSport vehicles, made between January 2016 and February 2016, and fitted with a 60/40 rear folding seat.

Ford in a statement said that on certain vehicles, the 40% rear seat backrest might have been assembled with bolts that do not meet Ford's material specification, potentially causing the bolts to break.

Ford clarified that there have been no customer complaints, accidents or injuries as a result of either of these concerns. Ford India is asking owners of the affected EcoSport vehicles to contact their local Ford dealer so that the necessary rework can be carried out, free of charge."
