The largest bank in the private sector in India, ICICI Bank, has appointed MK Sharma as its non-executive chairman. MK Sharma will take charge from KV Kamath, who will step down soon as he has been nominated as the first president of the BRICS development bank.

The bank in its filing with the BSE said that Sharma will take charge from July 1 and will continue on the board for tenure of five years. It should be noted that Sharma previously served as an independent director on the bank’s board from 2003 to 2011. He was the former vice chairman of FMCG giant Hindustan Unilever (HUL).
