With global fashion wears in vogue, Indian fashionistas have another reason to rejoice. San Francisco-based clothing retailer Gap will be foraying in the Indian market soon. According to a recent Economic Times report, Gap will open up a store in Delhi in May and has already teamed up with domestic textile company Arvind Lifestyle Brands of Flying Machine fame for the same.

Oliver Kaye has been appointed as the business head of the division dealing with the American brand. Kaye has been chosen for the job because knows the Indian fashion scenario inside out. J Suresh, managing director and CEO of Arvind Lifestyle Brands and Arvind Retail told the financial daily, "We primarily zeroed in on Kaye because of his rich international experience in retail and his earlier stint in India made it more compelling for us to have him lead the Gap division.”

Serving as a one stop fashion store for Gap stores for all sections including men, women, kids and babies, Arvind Lifestyle is aiming to open 40 franchise-operated Gap stores in the first few years. Understanding the price sensitive nature of the Indian market, Suresh has indicated that the prices of Gap products will be customized to suit Indians’ need.
