Google finally reveals what the 'N' in Android N stands for: Nougat
We finally know what the "N" in Android N stands for: Nougat!

Google always names its smartphone operating system updates after sweet treats - Cupcake, Donut, Lollipop, Marshmallow, to name a few - and this year's release was no exception.
Google also always adds a themed Android statue at its Moutain View headquarters. Here's the picture that it released over Snapchat:

CEO Sundar Pichai had asked people to submit suggestions at Google's big developers' conference in May, hence the tweet's "thank you."
N's headlining features include multi-window support, better battery efficiency, and the ability to reply to messages straight from their notification. It will be available this summer.
What we don't really know, is how to say "nougat" out loud. People in the US generally say "new-gut" while people in the UK say "noo-gah" (listen to the difference here). Android exec Hiroshi Lockheimer is willing to take suggestions:
