Google might be getting help from Fiat Chrysler on its car project

Alphabet, parent company of Google, might be getting some assistance with its ongoing autonomous car project from automaker Fiat Chrysler, The Wall Street Journal reports.

FCA and Alphabet are said to be months-deep in discussion regarding the Google self-driving car project.

The collaboration would likely lead to FCA assisting with production and actually bringing the finished product to market. 

The alliance would also be beneficial to FCA, as its CEO, Sergio Marchionne, has been openly searching for a tech-friendly partner company like Alphabet.

The last big news about a partnership between Alphabet and a major automaker came in December 2016 when reports surfaced that it would be joining forces with Ford.

Both FCA and Google declined to comment for this story.
