The Top Recruiters at IIM Ahmedabad and all that unfolded in the campus as Summer Placements finally come to an endWith 21 offers, Amazon emerged as the top recruiter for the summer placement process for the Class of 2018 of the Post Graduate Programme in Management at IIM Ahmedabad that was completed within three clusters.

As many as 130 students made dream applications to firms of their choice. They were seen being placed across 17 sectors and functions of their choice by the end of the placement process.

Apart from Amazon, other top recruiters were - Accenture Strategy which made 16 offers, the highest among Management Consulting firms; Bank of America Merrill Lynch made 6 offers, highest among global banks. American Express and FinIQ were the joint top recruiters in the BFSI cohort having made 6 offers each.

Hindustan Unilever recruited 10 students and was the highest recruiter in the Consumer Goods cohort while Aditya Birla Group and Tata Administrative Service were the joint top recruiters in the General Management cohort with 10 offers each.

Microsoft was the top recruiter in the consumer Tech cohort with 7 offers. Vedanta, a new recruiter in the core manufacturing and infra cohort made 6 offers.

Interestingly, firms were grouped into cohorts based on the profile offered, and groups of cohorts were invited to campus across different clusters.

As in previous years, students were provided with the flexibility of making “dream” applications to firms of their choice in a subsequent cluster even with an offer in hand. This gave students the flexibility and choice to build careers in sectors of their preference. This year, the students also had the opportunity to work under the mentorship of Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship on their entrepreneurial ideas. 5 students opted out of the placement process to work on their own ventures.

Here’s a cluster-wise break up of recruitment:

Cluster 1: Accenture Top Recruiter

Making 17 offers, Accenture Strategy emerged as the top recruiter during the Cluster 1 of the summer internship placements that began on November 5. More than 40 firms participated. Some of the other prominent recruiters included Bain & Co., Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Barclays, Citibank, McKinsey & Co., Morgan Stanley, Strategy&, The Boston Consulting Group etc.

Cluster 2: Amazon Top Recruiter
E-commerce major Amazon emerged as the top recruiter in cluster two of the summer internship placement process that took place on November 8, by giving 25 offers across its six roles. Cluster 2 comprised of five cohorts: Consumer Goods, Consumer Services, General Management and Leadership, Retail B2B & B2C and Pharma & healthcare. The recruiters in the General Management cohort included Conglomerates such as Aditya Birla Group, Mahindra and Tata Administrative Services (TAS) which offered leadership roles to students. The recruiters in the Consumer Goods and Services Cohort included Coke, General Mills, Hindustan Unilever, ITC, Marico, Mondelez, Procter & Gamble and others. Retail B2B & B2C firms like Amazon and Zilingo recruited students for business development, product management, operations, marketing and sales strategy & growth roles.

Cluster 3: Microsoft
The third cluster held on November 11 saw Microsoft as the largest recruiter with 7 offers. This cluster comprised six cohorts: Analytics, Banking and Financial Services, Consumer Tech, IT Consulting, Infra and Core Manufacturing and Government and Social Services.
