Here comes Chris Christie's campaign announcement...

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) on Tuesday is expected to become the 14th major Republican candidate to seek the party's nomination for president.

Christie is scheduled to launch his campaign at his old high school in Livingston, New Jersey, at an 11 a.m. event. His campaign slogan, according to his website set up over the weekend, will be "Telling it like it is," a play on his brash, tough-talking style.

But it'll be a long road to the nomination for Christie, who was encouraged by many Republican donors to challenge President Barack Obama in 2012. Since 2013, his image in and out of his home state has plummeted as he's dealt with the fallout of the Bridgegate scandal, to which he was never directly linked but which clearly damaged his reputation as an executive.

As Democrats and critics have been quick to point out, New Jersey has endured nine credit downgrades under Christie's watch. And he's facing much steeper competition this time, as he'll be competing for many of the same donors as former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and likely candidates Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Ohio Gov. John Kasich.

Over the past few months, Christie has unveiled detail policy proposals on foreign policy, education, and entitlements, the latter of which he says sets him apart from the rest of a crowded GOP field.
