An Olympic gold medal is one of the most prized awards in the world.
For the Rio Olympics, the 5,130 Olympic and Paralympic medals are being produced in Casa da Moeda do Brasil, the country's mint - alongside its currency. It takes 48 hours to make each medal, so the mint has 80 people working on the medals around the clock.
Here's how the medals are made.
