Hillary Clinton on Wednesday mocked Donald Trump for his abrupt trip to visit Mexico and meet with its president, Enrique Peña Nieto.

During an address to the American Legion in Cincinnati, Ohio, Clinton said international relations are more than a "photo-op" and that it takes more than "dropping in" on a neighbor to develop relationships.

"It takes consistency and reliability," she said. "Actually it's just like building personal relationships. People have to get to know that they can count on you, not that you will say one thing one day and something totally different the next."

"And it certainly takes more than trying to make up for a year of insults and insinuations by dropping in on our neighbors for a few hours and then flying home again," she continued. "That is not how it works."

Trump announced on Twitter late Tuesday night that he had accepted an invitation to meet with Nieto on Wednesday, ahead of his major immigration speech in Arizona later in the night.

The visit, and the speech, comes amid more than a week of Trump espousing conflicting views on his immigration policies. The Republican nominee previously promised to enlist a deportation force across the country to rid the US of the more than 11 million living in the country illegally, but has recently offered conflicting statements on how he would tackle the issue.
