IIT placements: Student from IIT-BHU bags Rs 1.20 crore Oracle offer

During the first drive of placements at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT ), computer science, electronics and electrical engineering graduates emerged as the most popular choice of software and IT majors at IIT-BHU . Most of the computer science students bagged big offers, and the stream also got the biggest offer from Oracle Rs 1.20 crore.
The training and placement officer of IIT-BHU confirmed that the highest paying offers were given to computer science. At every high quality campus, the maximum number of students placed, have been from the computer science discipline. Even last year, the highest package of Rs 2.27 crore was offered to a computer science student by Google US, they said.
So far, in the ongoing drive at IITs, nearly 90 companies have recruited over 500 students. In the first phase, several global and Indian campus recruiters have visited the campus and offered jobs to most of the students.
Only three international offers were made by Oracle (US) and Microsoft (US), with the former offering the highest package of Rs 1.20 crore to a student of computer science. The second highest offer of Rs 90 lakh was made to two students of the same department.
Other schools of IIT-BHU consisting bio-chemical engineering, bio-medical engineering, engineering physics, industrial chemistry, mathematics and computing, material sciences and technology, witnessed placements of 30 out of 81 students. The highest package was offered to students of mathematics and computing.
The officials at the training and placement office have also confirmed that there are several companies that are still to visit the campus for placement drive. About 3-5 companies are scheduled to visit the campus till December 19. The next phase of the placement drive is scheduled to commence from January, informed the officials.
