IT companies ask onsite Indian employees to be careful in the US

A few days back, we reported how the US government has issued a warning to its citizens travelling to Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Bangladesh, while also saying that there are some extremist elements active in India as well.

Looks like IT companies have taken a cue from this, and in order to keep their techies safe from hate crimes happening in the US, have asked them to be careful.

Wipro, after one of its techies found his home ransacked after returning from a weekend trip, has issued an advisor to warn its onsite employees about such crimes. Similarly, Cognizant has also sent an internal email to its employees, asking them to be on the guard.

There are around one lakh Indian engineers in the US, who are under a clear threat because of these increasing hate crimes.

Recently, Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an Indian engineer living in Kansas, was killed by a US native Adam Purinton. A few days later, Harnish Patel, who owned a convenience store in Lancaster County, South Carolina, was killed in the front yard of his home.

Home minister Rajnath Singh had yesterday said that these crimes are being taken seriously by the government; while the opposition wanted the matter to be immediately taken up with the Trump Administration.
