InFocus to increase manpower, eyes $1 billion in India revenueAs InFocus is preparing to start delivery of its ‘India assembled’ mobile handsets and tablets in the country by September, the US-based technology company is expecting boost in sales.

InFocus expects mobile handset sales to make up about 60-70% of its overall consumer business this year.

The company is trying to cement its presence in the consumer market through a new range of smartphone, feature phone, tablet and TV.

“India was the first strategic country for the company to expand into new product categories like smartphones, tablets and TVs,” Sachin Thapar, country head of InFocus India told Economic Times, adding the company expects to clock at least $500 million in revenue by March 2016 and increase to $1 billion by the end of March 2017.

Presently, Foxconn is assembling phones for InFocus at a new plant in Andhra Pradesh, which has a total of 12 assembly lines.

InFocus will increase manpower in India from present 25 to almost 300 in next three months and hire engineers, executives for field testing and sales functions.

InFocus entered Indian smartphone arena in March this year through Snapdeal and Amazon. It has sold more than 250,000 smartphones in the country.
