The "Fashion Police" host had gone into cardiac arrest and died after undergoing an endoscopic procedure.
Her daughter, Melissa, says the past year without her mother has been difficult but she's realized how many people loved and appreciated her mom.
"Today marks one year since my mother passed," Melissa Rivers wrote in a statement on her mother's Twitter account. "This was the year of firsts: first holidays, first birthdays, first everythings without mom, without grandma. While it's been difficult, I've been amazed by the outpouring of love and overwhelming kindness we've received from family, friends and people whose lives were touched by the woman they knew as Joan - a woman we all miss so very much."
Joan Rivers began her comedy career in the '60s in local NYC clubs and got her first TV experience on "Candid Camera" and "The Tonight Show." By the '80s she was a regular guest on "The Tonight Show" and in the '90s she worked for E! where her "Fashion Police" fame took off. She also did a reality TV show with her daughter, Melissa.
Rivers once said she was successful because she said " what everyone else was thinking."
