Jet Airways Likely To Lease Another Boeing Aircraft To Etihad

Private carrier Jet Airways is likely to lease one more Boeing 777-300 ER to its equity partner Etihad Airways, which holds a 24% stake in Jet. Etihad has already taken six aircraft on lease from Jet Airways.

"We may lease one more Boeing 777 aircraft to Etihad on a short-term basis," Jet Airways Vice-president for Aeropolitical, Government and International Affairs Gautam Acharya said.

Jet Airways has leased out a total of nine aircraft to Etihad and Turkish Airlines, he said. "Four Boeing 777-300ERs and two A330s are leased to Etihad, while three Boeing 777-300ERs are with Turkish Airlines," he added. Etihad had recently said that it may get some more planes from Jet.

According to a media report, Jet Airways has reduced its debt by 7% to Rs 9,794 crore this financial year. Its debt was Rs 10,576 crore on March 31, 2014.
