“Fresh graduates from the existing colleges and new institutes would be most in demand as employers across the sector prefer younger workforce with almost 62% demand for candidates in the age group of 24 years and less, followed by 22% for those between 25 and 30. The gender diversity is starkly visible in the automobile and auto component sector with 81% males and 18% females,” the report suggested.

In terms of domains, the sector will witness a higher demand for engineers with 46.43% followed by diploma holders with 26.79%. Degree and vocational courses will be least preferred and recruiters will give emphasis to candidates who have some domain expertise. “Employers will give 43% weightage to integrity, value and result orientation, followed by 14% to interpersonal skills and learning agility, etc,” stated the report.
Nevertheless, Suresh asserted that the hiring activity in the sector is directly impacted the by the sales clocked in by the players. If the sales pick up, the recruitment activity is expected to pick up exponentially.
