Have you heard about Neeru Gandhi, Monicka Chanana, Sarita Manocha and Pratibha Sabharwal? Definitely not. These four women all aged 50 plus are homemakers from Delhi. What made headlines about them? Well, they are planning to set off on a road trip all by themselves this month.

Popular as the Naanis on the Highway, Facebook page, Age No Bar chronicled their journey for 28 days when they travelled all across the country covering 4400 kms last year. And this year they want to make it bigger.

Their roadtrip in 2016 was from New Delhi to Rajasthan to Gujarat and back to New Delhi. As they drove to explore the diverse landscape, language, culture, cuisine and people, their Facebook page recorded their journey through their pictures and documents their rendezvous with the locals.

And note it as an inspiration. The experiences they shared on social media through photos, videos and posts are enough to prove their journey wasn’t all smooth. From flat tyres to worn out brake pads, they have faced it all. Fortunately, they were all prepared for hurdles and knew basics of car repairing. And the women of that age carrying selfie sticks, dongle, tripods and using Google Maps would make people change the hackneyed notion about Indian women.

The aunties of new India are incredible. Take a bow!
