Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft, has come to India with a lot of dreams and a deep desire to help grow this country.
While delivering a keynote address at Microsoft’s ‘Tech for Good, Ideas for India’ event in Delhi, Nadella spoke about the importance of infusing cognitive technology into apps or services to come.
With a dream toempower India , Nadella said, “It is not about celebrating our own technology, it is about celebrating the technology that India creates.”
During his keynote, Nadella quoted a famous Indian poet, Ghalib, and recited a couplet “Hazaaron khwahishen aisi ke har khwahish pe dam nikle, Bahut niklay mere armaan, lekin phir bhi kam nikle ("Such are thousands of aspirations, that each aspiration takes your breath away. I had many dreams, but they still weren't enough).
“In my earliest interpretation I realized the power of what he was saying, which is, it's not just your dreams being fulfilled, it is your ability to dream things that are worth dying for,” said Nadella, adding his interpretation of these lines changes every year for him.
Nadella, while addressing students, young achievers, developers and entrepreneurs in Delhi, said he wanted Microsoft to be the platform to foster the ingenuity of the people of India.
During the event, a video was shown, which displayed the uses of conversational chatboxes. Also, stress was also laid on augmented reality and what kind of applications Microsoft HoloLens could do.
One of the examples given was staff at NASA being able to go around and study a rover on mars from all angles, because it was possible with the use of holograms.
During his address, he also advised the youth of India to “continue to being bold and ambitious”.
Earlier in the day, Nadella met India’s Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad.
Before that, he had delivered a keynote address at Microsoft's 'Future Unleashed' event in Mumbai in November.
