After bringing in a number of inventive ideas on its online shopping portal, Myntra is now mulling over another one in the row. As reported by Economic Times, the firm will develop a fashion platform similar to Facebook for its customers. The company’s new platform is aiming to grow as ‘Facebook of fashion ’, as named by the firm itself, would let the consumers upload their pictures, form groups, invite friends, chat and seek out the opinion of friends and expert before making a purchase.
Abhishek Rajan, head of mobile business atMyntra told ET, "When you come just to shop and avail discounts, you visit maybe once or twice a month. But fashion is a category where you get inspired every day. Hence we are building a platform where it is more of an engagement which will give our users a reason to keep coming back to our app."
The new platform will help the company keep a close track of what the subscriber is looking for through the browsing pattern and will pick cues from this to show relevant search results and suggestions.
Analysts, however, are not very confident of Myntra’s recent plan.
Arvind Singhal, founder of retail consultancy Technopak says, "I don't see this as a need for people who are shopping on their mobile phones. They are not missing out on trends and fashion updates. In case they want to discuss, they do it among each other on the social sites. So will they be coming to Myntra to find out about fashion and get information? I am not sure. Such information is available widely on the internet already."
“Somebody else may buy something better for you and share that with you. Brands will help us curate some looks and even you can also create a look and share it with your friends. If they like it, they will buy it," Rajan further added.
Rajan also informed that Myntra’s website home page will get a fresh look.
Not just this, but the firm is also working on to introduce a virtual wardrobe with pictures of users’ clothes and image searches. This means, subscribers can take a photo of something they like and use that image to search for something similar on Myntra. Sounds cool, isn’t it?
