New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia reportedly arrested on domestic violence charge

New York Mets closer Jeurys Familia was arrested on Monday in Fort Lee, New Jersey, on a charge of domestic violence, court documents obtained by the Bergen Record showed.
In the complaint, police said that Familia "recklessly cause[d] bodily harm" to the victim, whose name was not released. The complaint also said police observed the victim had a scratch on the chest and a bruise on the right cheek. Police said this gave them probable cause "to believe that domestic violence had occurred," according to the complaint.
Familia, 27, is an All-Star relief pitcher for the Mets. Earlier this year, he appeared in an ad campaign for an anti-domestic violence organization.
According to The Record, Familia was living with his wife and 1-year-old son at the time of his arrest.
"The matter was brought to our attention and we are monitoring the situation," the Mets said in a statement on Tuesday.
