In a bid to encourage the NaMo government’s initiative to boost ‘“Ganga is not only a river with religious importance but many people depend on it for their livelihood. We want the campaign to be associated with employment and livelihood,” Union minister Bharti said.
The Water Resources Minister spoke at the two-day consultation for preparing Detail Project Report (DPR) for the Campaign. She asserted that half of the people would lose their lifeline if the river went dry.
Expressing her views on dam construction, Water Resources Minister Bharti said that she was not opposed to the idea of a damn provided that it did not hinder the environmental flow of rivers.
