The Imran Khan-led government in Islamabad has decided to move the International Court of Justice (ICJ) against India alleging human rights violation in Kashmir. "We have decided to take the Kashmir case to the International Court of Justice,” Pakistan’s foreign minister, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, told ARY News TV on Tuesday, adding that the government had considered all legal aspects.

The move from Pakistan has come days after an attempt to garner international support at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) against India's move to revoke 'special' status given to Kashmir under the Indian constitution.

Earlier this month, the Narendra Modi government in New Delhi decided to scrap a special provision that allowed the state of Jammu and Kashmir to make its own laws. When the issue was raised at the UNSC, India defended the decision saying it is an internal matter and Pakistan reportedly found no support outside of China.

Islamabad has already cut trade and transport links with India and expelled the ambassador from New Delhi.
