This year, France made a shift in its traditional set up and invited leaders of countries to participate in COP 21 to give the issue political impetus and reach an agreement to curb emissions.

Each of the 147 leaders will address the conference for about three minutes.

Meanwhile, apart from big ticket announcements, negotiators will also sit down on one topic-finance and differentiating developing and developed countries.

The United Nations climate change has put impetus on industrialised nations to give out finance to developing ones so that the latter can follow a low-carbon path.

But, industrialised countries have not show keen interest in this regard as they had pledged to provide $100 billion annually by 2020, which has not been achieved yet.

This issue has mushroomed mistrust among nations and negotiators are hopeful that a working solution will be out.

Talking about developed and developing countries, developing countries are of the opinion that they cannot be equaled with developed countries when it comes to providing finance, or in making technology available to developing countries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his article in FT, also stated that he hoped for an agreement that restored balance between ecology and economy.
