Consumer Reports bend testing the iPhone 6 Plus

Lewis Hilsenteger of Unbox Therapy, who made the iPhone 6 Plus bending story go viral by bending it with his bare hands in a YouTube video, told Business Insider that he's seen about "20 different cases" of new iPhones randomly appearing bent for some owners. Hilsenteger said that since he posted his first bend test video last week, people have been sending him their own photos and posting them on Instagram.

"What people need to remember is that this phone is only a few days old," Hilsenteger said to Business Insider. "Many people are just getting their shipments now. People expect to own these things for two years."

Apple said in a previous statement that only nine people have officially filed complaints about their iPhones bending in the first six days of sales. The company also said that with normal use, a bend is "extremely rare". Consumer Reports recently tested both models of the iPhone 6, finding that it would indeed take quite a bit of weight to significantly bend the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus.

But that doesn't mean some people aren't encountering the problem, apparently. Here's a look at the iPhone 6 photos Instagram users have been posting and sending to Hilsenteger.

Instagram user "greesha_" posted that the phone bent after sitting in his front pocket.

The phones all appear to be bending in the same spot, near the volume button.

Instagram user "edch2020" said this happened after he placed the phone in his pocket and sat down.

Here's another showing the iPhone 6 Plus slightly bent. This person brought it back to the Apple Store.
