The one thing that most people get terribly wrong while trying their hands at exercising is choosing the wrong workout. It is very imperative that one chooses a workout which not only caters to the results they’re expecting but it also agrees with their body and their physical strength.

Every individual is designed in a different way and so is every workout. Some workouts need a higher level of fitness while others can be done by everyone.

A wrong workout can injure you and at the same time be a complete waste of the time, effort and energy employed- by giving no desired results.

Hence, always keep in mind to think through which workout you should be doing and understanding if it really is the right one for you.
Of late, the maximum confusion people seem to be having is choosing between Pilates or CrossFit, as both the workouts are considered opposite ends of a spectrum.

Pilates or
Crossfit: Which exercise should you choose?

Pilates are considered easier as they are built for everybody’s comfort levels and for all body shapes. CrossFit workouts on the other hand are can be very intensive.

Combining the elements of martial arts training and yoga into a mat-based routine, Pilates claims to boost strength, posture and flexibility. Its body sculpting powers are much-revered and it is also useful for people with back pain as it helps in strengthening muscles that support the spine.

The claim that it strengthens ‘core’ abdominal is absolutely true. Weekly classes will also lead to an increase in the endurance of muscles in the abdomen and upper body. However, there have been no detected improvements in posture or balance through Pilates.

On the other hand, to make the most of CrossFit, you need to push yourself hard. And, we mean very hard. In CrossfIt workouts, the loads you bear are heavier and are they are performed in an environment which asks you to pushes yourself harder each week- and in most cases you’ll have little rest in between.

For all the hard work the workout asks from you, it comes with impressive returns too.

Regular CrossFit workouts have been known to induce a 3-4% fall in fat, increase in muscle and improvements in an individual’s aerobic capacity.

Because CrossFit demands way more than a traditional workout, the risks are greater too. Unless you’re physically fit, these workouts may end up causing an injury. Thus, if you’re starting you, we wouldn’t recommend CrossFit to you.
