Police in New York are responding to reports of an explosion in Manhattan.

According to the New York City Police Department, the incident happened near 23rd Street and 6th Avenue early Saturday night.

Police have cordoned off a large area near the scene.

ABC-7 New York reporter CeFaan Kim captured photos of two cars that appear to have been damaged.

He notes that a child in one of the vehicles was injured.

New York City District 3 councilman, Corey Johnson, noted that the FBI was on scene, along with a number of police cars, New York City Fire Department units, and ambulances.

At least three people were seen being taken away from the apparent scene of the blast in ambulances, Reuters reported. The severity of their injuries was not immediately clear.
