In March this year, the USCIS had announced that it would be suspending fast processing of H-1B visas, which could have affected Indian IT companies, given that they would have to wait longer to get visas for employees that needed to be sent to the US for critical projects.

"USCIS plans to resume premium processing of other H-1B petitions as workloads permit. We will make additional announcements with specific details related to when we will begin accepting premium processing for those petitions," said a statement from the agency.

It has already resumed premium processing for all H-1B petitions that were filed for medical doctors under a waiver programme as well as for interested government agency waivers.

The USCIS had said that the suspension of premium processing might last up to six months, thus helping it to process long-pending petitions first.
