Recent Yale graduate reportedly stabbed a current student before killing himself
Yale College sophomore Alexander Michaud was allegedly stabbed by 2015 graduate Tyler Carlisle, according to the YDN.
Carlisle then reportedly jumped to his death from the ninth floor of the Taft Apartments, located in New Haven.
A spokesperson for the New Haven Police Department confirmed to Business Insider that the stabbing and apparent suicide occurred around 5:30 a.m. Police also said Michaud was in stable condition at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
New Haven Police said that the investigation is still in its infancy and that there is currently no information on why the apparent altercation occurred.
The YDN noted that the two undergraduates were believed to be acquaintances who belonged to a political group on campus called the Party of the Right.
A spokesperson for Yale University also confirmed the stabbing-suicide, and said "The University extends its deepest sympathy to the families and friends of these two members of the Yale community, and joins everyone in hoping for Alexander's full recovery."
Yale is also providing mental health counselors and staff of the Chaplain's Office to counsel students.
