Reliance has already tied up with Amazon for its one handset and is exploring other options to launch an online store at these marketplaces.

Reliance group's Lyf-branded 4G handsets had become the fifth-largest selling smartphone in India in the first quarter of its launch.

Looking at the market trend and the fact that many people are buying phones online now, Reliance wants to attract youngsters.

"The response has been good and the company wants to expand the online sales network since each handset sold will create a customer for the 4G services when it's launched," one of the executives told ET.

Apparently, Reliance is not entering into any pricing war of smartphones.

Lyf garnered 7% share in the January-March quarter and was the second largest after Samsung in the 4G or LTE category, stated Counterpoint Research.

Lyf Water 5 was launched on Amazon at Rs 11,699.
