To deal with the ongoing call drop menace, India’s biggest telcos, Bharti Airtel and Vodafone, are going to implement a software solution called Self Optimising Network (SON) technology. This would also improve the overall network stability across India.

Both Airtel and Vodafone have partnered with networking major Cisco for SON technology, which would promise to significantly improve voice call quality and reduce dropped call rates. They would also get higher data speed and better accessibility.

As per latest order from TRAI, mobile operators have to check call drops in the industry regulator, and have to compensate their subscribers Re 1 for each call dropped, for up to 3 calls a day.
